From the recording Light of Day
TK/Elizabeth Vidal
–A few years ago Liz and I wrote a song The Spinners recorded for the film Twins, and later on wrote another one that was used in a terrible made-for-TV movie about Princess Di’s affair with her riding instructor. Liz is one of my favorite people, and writing this was just a lot of fun. Even though it has an upbeat feel it captures well for me the angst of looking past the first bloom of love, knowing it can’t be all roses, hoping it’ll somehow last.
Lyrics
Waitin’ on the street
I see you everywhere
Cause we were gonna meet
By the fountain in the square
Then you’re suddenly there
I hear you whisper my name
And I’m excited and scared
I guess I’d better explain
Baby I love falling in love
The magic touch, the sudden rush
When that old arrow hits its mark
Baby I love falling in love
But I need you to help me through
The happy ever after part
Baby I love falling in love
Falling in love
So what can we do?
Things change so fast
I’m telling you now
How much I want it to last
And if the new wears thin
If we get lost
Can we start again
Where we left off?
Baby I love falling in love
The magic touch, the sudden rush
When that old arrow hits its mark
Baby I love falling in love
But I need you to help me through
The happy ever after part
Baby I love falling in love
Falling in love… with you
(… with you)
It’s such an easy thing to do
Tell me the rest of this dream comes true
Baby I love falling in love
The magic touch, the sudden rush
When that old arrow hits its mark
Baby I love falling in love
But I need you to help me through
The happy ever after part
Baby I love falling in love
Falling in love… with you
