Tom Kimmel's February News-in-Brief

Greetings from Planet Earth!

Speaking of the planet, are y’all familiar with a guy named Bill McKibben? Back in the day, Letterman had him on The Late Show a few times, and that’s where I ran across him. He’d written a book about climate change called Eaarth, and it had a big effect on me.

If climate change has your attention these days, check out this organization he put together;

www.350.org

And under 350's umbrella there's a very helpful page called Climate Activism for Beginners: 7 Ways to Get Started:

https://350colorado.org/climate-activism-for-beginners-7-ways-to-get-started/

For more on McKibben and that book:

OK, I have news!!

5. Song of the Month: One World

For 12 years way back in my mid-Nashville days I visited a man in the Tennessee State Penitentiary.

This song—“One World—bubbled up from my experience there.

This track was produced by Ray Kennedy, and it was added to my Never Saw Blue some years later.

To listen, go to my home page…

www.tomkimmel.com

…and scroll down. Listen for free—or download for 99¢. (And it's streaming everywhere.)

6. Poem of the Month: Personality

To think
it is fixed
personality
ink on a page
tattooed
on the face
of a cloud.

In the cloud
there’s a child
now a man
now a woman
lost
in a dance
with the sun.
