Tom Kimmel's November News-in-Brief

November Greetings & Early Happy Thanksgiving!

I pray all of us are staying warm through the crazy cold snap affecting much of the country. It's been so cold (and so early) for so many! Having a paucity of meat on my bones I’ve dug out my winter clothes, including my indispensable L.L. Bean silk long john bottoms to wear under my jeans. (Hope you laughed—but I do highly recommend!)

This month’s newsletter is quite short, so here we go…

—

CONTENTS of This Newsletter

1. Sherpas: new album mastered & readying for release etc.

2. 2023 Ireland & Scotland tours almost full…

1. New Sherpas album: DONE!

Yes it’s mastered, and we’re sorting out what comes next: pressing, release date, promo and all those necessities. Needless to say, we're beyond excited.

FYI, the album will be called “Promise to Harry.” More to come….

2. 2023 Ireland & Scotland tours virtually full, but...

a. Scotland:  As of today, my May ’23 tour is filled, BUT there are 2 seats left for my October 2-12, 2023 tour.

For more info visit the Traceless Tours page for the tour HERE

And visit the Scotland page at my website HERE

b. Ireland:  I’m told we are almost full for my April 18-27, 2023 tour of Counties Dublin, Waterford & Clare. However, there is the occasional cancellation—it happens—so if you’re interested, please inquire asap.

And that's easy to do. Visit this Inishfree Tours page HERE…

3. TK Poem of the Month: The Bar

The shortest song I’ve ever written began as this poem, and it lingered as a poem till I heard its music. (It’s on my mind because I recently closed a couple of shows with it.)

The Bar

I’m not reading you the lines
that didn’t make the book.
(I left them in a drawer
where they belong.)

I’m not singing you the notes
that didn’t make the verse
(though they could end up
in some other song).

And probably not!
That’s how it goes.
When they go down
they hardly ever come up
smelling like a rose.

The world is cold,
and it’s a shame,
but there’s the bar
and we must raise it
...just the same.

4. Wisdom for our time...

The fractious mid-terms past, I'm sharing a little inspiration by a President of each party.

“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.”

―Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945), 32nd President of the United States

“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes.”

—Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969), 34th President of the United States
